I had a bad breakdown today and almost relapsed. (Which I’m so glad I didn’t now) Instead I just ran to the tube and rode it for ages, walked around outside for a bit and looked at some pretty make up things, until I felt safe to come home, 3 hours later. I still feel fragile but I feel better than I did. I don’t feel I can tell anyone what’s happening, and I wouldn’t want to bother anyone with it anyways. It’s hard. #me

I don’t mind chatting to you until the feeling has passed. The last thing I would want to do is to trigger someone by this post and I hope you can understand this. Everything you can see in the image is a scar, there is nothing new, no open wounds, or recent harming. The whiter the scars, the older they are.This is a PRO RECOVERY, and pro life post. I do not promote self harm in any way. I’m AGAINST using self harm as a coping strategy… self harm is not the answer, EVER. I know sometimes it feels like it is, and I’ve been there, too many times, but I’m stronger now, and you can be too. Self harm is NEVER!! EVER!! the only option. I PROMISE you. I have learnt this over time, and because I never got any help from a young age up until I was an adult, I’ve learnt it the hard way. Please read on..So I’ve taken some time over the day today to write out this post and to choose a photo to go with it. I have chosen this photo because I want this post to stand out, because I want this post to reach the people who need it. I have also chosen this photo because although I have self inflicted scars (none of these are new wounds, they’re all scars.) from over the years, which I know are not pretty, they’re not beautiful, they’re actually pretty gross, and I do find them embarrassing, yes. but they are a part of me, and a part of who I am, and so is my mental disorder, as much as I tried to fight it and pretend it wasn’t, hid it all away, it’s still here and it will always be. (and can I just state it took me a very long time to accept this, and to be able to do what I am doing now)but I also still believe in getting better, and as my tattoo dedicated to my best friend who passed away from cancer when I was 11, says, ‘never give up’. Because thats how I feel.And before I write anything I want to make a point to say!! !!I do NOT promote self harming in any way, or any form of mental illness/disorder. I’m very much against self harming, I’m pro life and recovery. Pro learning to love yourself!!Mental illness is not beautiful. Self harm isn’t brave. You know what’s beautiful and brave? Getting yourself help, opening up to people, trying to recover/get better, helping others.I know this is a sensitive topic, and if you don’t understand and don’t want to understand or if you don’t want to see this post please block me or whatever you feel you need to do. I’m obviously nervous about posting this, there’s some of my good friends who haven’t even seen my arms since I had a relapse 6 months ago, so to do this is a big thing for me and because it’s not easy to talk about, and it’s not easy for me to do this, but I want to. If you keep reading you’ll see why..I’d prefer if people could be respectful and *try* not to post horrible things about me for talking about this or showing this photo, but if you do please know you’re below me and I will block you straight away because I have no time for people trying to bring me down anymore, especially those who try to shame me for what I am doing.and if by me sharing this post it helps even just one person who needs it then I’m glad. I’m 21 in a couple of days, I have struggled with self harm for most of my life, and I have borderline personality disorder, I was first referred to a psychiatrist at the age of 8, but it wasn’t until I was 18 I got a proper diagnosis that actually made sense, that’s 10 years of seeing different psychiatrists, therapists and doctors. I am in a dialectical behavioural therapy program 3 hours, every week, for 12 months which I started 3 months ago. This is a therapy specialised for people with my disorder. But there are parts of it which everyone could use and therefore I will share incase it could help someone else. It took me years to be able to talk about mental health, and it’s not an easy thing to do, and still now, two years after I started being open about it, people try to shame me for doing so, which is disgraceful. there is NOTHING wrong with talking about mental health, and excuse my language but fuck anyone who thinks there is. They don’t know anything, I struggled alone for years, hid it all away, for 10 years actually, and that is WRONG and damaging. Fuck the stigma, it’s ok to talk about mental illness. Because when I was growing up I didn’t think it was ok to talk about, I didn’t have anyone to talk to about it, I didn’t tell anyone how much I was really struggling, I wasn’t able to ask anyone for advice, or talk to someone older than me who had been there and got through it, I kept it all inside until it was too much for me, and I tried to take my own life, I was just 15. and I don’t want that to happen to someone else. EVER. I don’t want anyone to ever feel like they’re alone, because I promise you, you are not.I don’t want any young person to feel the way I did. You have every right to talk about your mental health, struggles and problems and my page is a safe, supportive environment where you can do so without being judged, where you can get help, advice and or support.To everyone struggling right now, come join me and others like us in my page, we can get through this. The eczema on my hands is kinda embarrassing (between my fingers). It happened because I wore a ring which had brass in it about a year ago now, I had a bad allergic reaction, but it never completely went. and if anyone wonders what happened to my face/eye where it looks a bit weird.. I was in an accident with fire and my face got set on fire when I was 6 and it burnt my face and almost lost eyesight in one eye 👍 and so there’s no skin pigment anymore meaning it’s always white, just lucky I’m pale as shit:-) thought I’d say before someone points it out since people are dicks like that. (Usually blur it out, in real life I always notice it but apparently other people don’t realise until I say so meh.)

Just wanted to say I’m here for anyone who would like to message me about anything, and if they ever feel like hurting themselves, do not do it, it’s not worth it, it’s never ever worth it. I’m not very good at advice but I can give you other ideas of things to do instead of hurting yourself, or numbers to call, websites to go and I can listen if you need to talk to someone. Cutting yourself, or any other form of self destruction is not the road to go down, I promise, trust me. It’s never worth it, ever. And even though I don’t feel I need to hide my scars anymore, I still feel self conscious A LOT and I know they’re not pretty or anything to be proud of in the slightest, but they’re me. And always will be part of me. And it took me years and years to get to this point. And other people who have self harm scars shouldn’t be afraid, it’s ok to have scars, and you don’t have to hide them, if someone judges you on your scars then you definitely do not want that person in your life any way, so fuck them. People should never be ashamed, or feel they have to hide their scars, and people who have self harm scars should be allowed to wear the same clothes as other people, just because you have scars on your legs for example, doesn’t mean you can’t wear shorts like your other friends.Because every scar is reminder you’re still alive. Literally in tears from writing this and feel nervous posting this paragraph again but just trying to make a point and help other people.**I’m here for anyone who would like to message me, about mental illness, self harm, scars, someone close to you dying, moving out at a young age, housing, abuse, bullying since I know about and have been through these things but seriously message me about anything really, anything at all. I’m 20 next month btw not sure if that’s relevant but I do have a quite a bit of life experience I guess. yes it’s song lyrics but it has another meaning to me as well. because i’ve been through a lot of things in my lifetime and at 11 losing my nannie, who was my best friend, watching her die (to cancer after she battled for 21 years, and she was also bipolar) is one of them, also suffering with mental illness for as long as i can remember is another, also the abuse i was put through when i was younger & in my teen years, surviving my suicide attempt at 15 when i was told i would die (http://zixxie.tumblr.com/post/22290415236/15-years-old-id-been-self-harming-since-i-was) moving out at 16 years old, and then at 18 being diagnosed with bpd and then trigeminal neuralgia not long after, which are both (most likely) life long illnesses. so what i’m trying to say is that if you’ve never experienced anything like that, or anything really like someone close to you being very poorly, suffering from an illness whether mental or physical, or losing someone close to you. or being chronically really poorly yourself, then you’re the lucky one.(i’m bad at wording things but hopefully you know what i mean)

Hi guys!
So next Friday it’s National Self-Harm Awareness day on the 1st of March.
and as you would have probably guessed I want to do something to show my support to anyone who has self harmed for whatever reason.

So I have decided to write the words ‘Stay strong’ with a little heart like this on my wrist, where the most of my self harm scars/cuts are. and I will have that on my arm all day (march 1st) where it will be visible to anyone I see.

I want to do this to show that:

1. I’m encouraging other people to stay strong no matter what’s happened now or in the past, and that anyone who has been or are struggling with mental illness or self harm in their life, that I’m here for them, and I will listen and if they don’t feel they can talk to anyone else, they know that they can talk to me, because I understand a lot more than most people. I also want to encourage these people to reach out to people they trust around them to start getting them more support & help. I also feel that knowing that other people are having a hard time similar to yourself helps a lot. Just to know there’s someone else out there feeling the same way you do.
(I also want to say that if you’re not someone who’s ever self harmed, then don’t start, please.
It’s not worth it, it’s never ever worth it.
I promise you that.
Self harm is never a good thing, it’s not pretty or beautiful, it’s not brave. And if anyone thinks that self harming is pretty or cute or whatever then you’re wrong and please stay away from me.
I am not encouraging self harm, I’m doing the opposite.
If you’re a self-harmer or have thought about it, either way if you just send me a message on my blog (www.zixxie.tumblr.com) I can listen to you, try to help, give you advice, point you to helplines, places, people, and importantly, I can tell you a lot of different alternatives to hurting yourself, because there are other things that are not or less damaging that can help you, for example the butterfly project or wearing an elastic band around your wrist (I can explain in more detail, just message me) There are other ways to cope, and I would stay up all night speaking to somebody to make sure they’re not going to hurt themselves, because even if you think no one else in the world cares, I CARE and we can fight our battles together.) Got a bit upset writing that bit.
2. I want people to know that, yes, I am a self-harmer, and have been for a long, long time. It’s the way I cope. I know it’s not pretty, beautiful or the right thing to do. It’s quite the opposite, but it’s part of me, my illness is part of who I am, and my scars will always be there. and as you probably already know I have only recently come to terms with this as I said on this post : https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=204266586440010&set=t.533611113&type=3&theater . and I have only recently been able to not cover up my scars when I meet new people, or leave the house, because it’s a part of who I am, and anybody who doesn’t like the fact I do and have self harmed and that you can see my scars sometimes, then that’s fine, I don’t want to be friendly with somebody like that anyway.
I’m sure most of my friends have noticed already. Fighting against the idea of hurting myself is something I have to do every day, but I am still here. Still fighting. and I hope I will be for years to come.

If anyone wants to do the same as me that’s fine.. even if you don’t self harm, just to show support to others around you who may be suffering, especially if it’s someone close to you.
